Session E3: Remediation of Ports, Harbors, and Urban Waterways
January 10, 2023
Chairs: Philip Spadaro (TIG Environmental) and Amber Wilson (Infrastructure Alternatives, Inc)
Ports, harbors, and urban waterways are the settings for many of our most significant sediment cleanup projects. These projects present a complex set of challenges for environmental remediation. Remediation goals have to be balanced with continued use of the waterway, potential waterfront redevelopment, and often environmental justice considerations. The successful execution of these highly complex remediation projects demands meticulous planning, scientifically sound technical approaches, and strong working relationships with stakeholders.
This session will focus on the complexities of remediation in commercially used waterways. The session will feature eight platform presentations and nine posters from 16 participants. Several interesting and recent case studies are featured. A full list of presentations in the session is available in the technical program.
